Ifatanytimethereisanyquestionwhetherfumesareenteringthecab,determinethe
causeofthefumesandhaveitcorrectedassoonaspossible.Ifthevehiclemustbe
drivenundertheseconditions,driveonlywithallwindowsopen.
Protectagainstcarbonmonoxideentryintothecab.Keeptheengineexhaustsystem,
cabandcabventilationsystemproperlymaintained.Itisrecommendedthatthe
exhaustsystemandcabareinspectedbyacompetenttechnician:
•Ateveryengineoilchange.
•Wheneverachangeisnoticedinthesoundoftheexhaustsystem.
•Whenevertheexhaustsystem,underbodyorcabisdamaged.
Toallowproperoperationofthevehicleventilationsystem,keeptheinletgrilleatthe
baseofthewindshieldclearofsnow,ice,leavesandotherobstructionsatalltimes.
DONOTparkthevehicleandlettheenginerunoridleformorethan10minuteswith
theventilationsystemcontrolswitchintheOFFposition.Evenwiththeventilation
systemON,runningtheenginewhileparkedorstoppedforlongperiodsoftimeis
notrecommended.Entryofcarbonmonoxideintothecabispossiblewithapoorly
repaired,damagedorcorrodedexhaustsystemorcab.
DONOTruntheengineinconnedareas,suchasgaragesornexttoabuilding,any
morethannecessary.Theareamustbeproperlyventilated.Whenthevehiclemustbe
stoppedwiththeenginerunningformorethanafewminutes:
•Adjusttheheatingorcoolingsystemtoforceoutsideairintothecab.Dothisby
settingthefantomediumorhighspeedandwiththecontrolssetinanyposition
exceptforrecirculationofairinsideofthecab.
•Keeptheexhaustpipeareacleartohelpreducethebuildupofexhaustgasunder
thevehicle.
