Allowtheenginetoslowdownandidlefor3to5minutesbeforeshuttingitoff.This
allowstheturbotoslowdownandthecoolingsystemtodissipatetheengineheat.
SwitchtheengineoffbyturningtheignitionkeytotheB,orOFF,position.
CAUTION
Shuttingoffanengineimmediately
afterhighspeedorfullloadoperation
candamagetheturboandcauseheat
stressintheengine.Alwaysletthe
engineidlefor3to5minutesbefore
shuttingitoff.

Theengineshut-downsystemwillautomaticallyderateorstoptheenginewhenone
ormoreofthesystemslistedbelowreachesacriticalstage:
•HighCoolantTemperature
•LowOilPressure
•LowCoolantLevel
•HighCrankcasePressure
•HighDieselParticulateFilterSootLevel
Derateandshut-downfunctionsmaybeapplieddifferently,oraddedto,dependingon
theenginemanufacturer.Seetheengineoperator’smanualformoreinformation.
Whentheshut-downisactivated,thetell-talescomeonandthebuzzerisalso
activated.Fromthattimeitwilltake30secondsbeforetheengineshutsdown.Inthis
timeperiod,ndasafeplacetopulloffoftheroad.
Aftertheenginehasbeenshutdownbythesystem,theoverridewillallowarestart
oftheenginefor30seconds.Thisissothevehiclemaybepulledofftheroad,if
necessary.Thealarmwillremainactivateduntilrepairshavebeenmadetocorrectthe
problem.
Theoperatorshouldnotcontinuallyoverridethesystemasthiscancauseserious
damagetothevehicle’sengine.
