littledriverinterfacetomaintaincorrectoperation.Thetechnologyutilizesapassive
regeneration;requiringnofueltobeinjectedtocleantheDPF.InEPA2007anactive
regeneration(fuelwasinjected)wasrequiredtocleanouttheDPFproducingvery
highexhaustoutlettemperatures.Certainvocationaldutycycleswillrequiretheuse
offueland/oraparkedregenerationtocleanoutbuilt-upsootintheparticulatelter.
Exhausttemperaturewillincreaseduringaparkedregeneration.Whenparkingthe
vehicletoperformaparkedregenerationkeepawayfromanyammablematerial,
vaporsorstructures.

vehicle,keepawayfromanyammable
materials,vapors,orstructures.

Thetemperatureoftheexhaustsystem
componentsduringtheregeneration
processcanexceed350degreesC
(660F).Theexhaustgasleaving
thesystemcanreach420degreesC
(788F).Variousfactors(including
ambienttemperatureanddurationofthe
regenerationprocess)determinewhen
thesecomponentswillreturntonormal
operatingtemperatureafterregeneration
hascompleted.Beextremelycareful
aroundthesehotcomponents.Contact
withthesecomponentscanresultin
seriouspersonalinjury.
