Volvo S80
1999-2001
The 1999-2001 S80 uses an Ate Mark20 module
located near the master brake cylinder. After 2001,
Volvo switched to the Ate Mark25e (see lower diagram,
right) which we cannot repair.
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery lead.
2. Remove the air cleaner (ACL) housing.
3. Remove the integrated relay / fusebox.
4. Clean around the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the main connector by pressing in the
catch and pulling straight off (pulling at an angle
will break the connector).
6. Remove the pump motor connector. If your
module only has one connector, it is a Mark25e
which we cannot repair.
7. Use a 6 mm torx external socket to remove the 4
screws that hold the module to the hydraulic unit.
If your module only has 3 screws, it is a Mark25e
which we cannot repair.
8. Remove the module.
9. Cover the mating surface of the hydraulic unit
with aluminum foil. It is safe to drive the vehicle
with the brake module removed.
Installation Procedure
1. Installation is the reverse order of steps above.
2. Start the engine and make sure the brake
warning lights go out.
